Iken Scientifica endeavours to provide students a real-world exposure through application of scientific concepts. It is based on the belief that every child is a genius and it is through harnessing their inquisitiveness and curiosity that a gap can be built between theory and practical learning. It gives children the opportunity to prove their mettle on a national platform.
3. How do you generate new ideas for this every year?
Based on students’ receptivity to different competitions, we come up with more interactive formats every year.
4. What is the difference between the school Competition and the workshops?
As a corollary to its increasing popularity, the Iken Scientifica Competition now takes the workshop route which means children now get an opportunity to get hands-on experience, experiment, and learn real-world situations beyond classrooms – in a simulated marketplace. Here, students can compete with co-participants and apply real-life lessons in design, economics and common sense. The participants work in teams in an open market of raw materials, tools, fabricators and knowledge experts to create useful machines.
The workshop acts as a training ground for students for the main Competition. However, it is not mandatory for workshop participants to go ahead for the Competition.
5. Which is the current round of Iken Scientifica?
The current round is the city/zonal final is a workshop round called JunKreate, which is based on the problem-statement. For instance ‘Make a Remote controlled boat or a Parachute, which carries a load of 5 kg’.
